Awards of Excellence
Architectural Woodwork
Design Awards
Each year interior designers, architects and AWMAC’s manufacturer members are invited to submit their best projects that feature architectural woodwork for the awards of excellence competition.
This year we had the pleasure of viewing 45 projects, ranging from commercial spaces and institutions to high end residences.
The collaboration and teamwork that goes into these projects is truly remarkable.
Below are the winning architectural woodwork projects from 2025

The BMO Centre expansion was designed as a new, iconic gathering space.
Every detail of the building is designed and crafted as an eye-catching homage to Western Canada; from the custom lighting in the façade to the wooden paneling, grandstand, and breathtaking ballroom ceilings.
Featuring local materials, the design evokes Alberta's unique prairie landscape and cultural craftsmanship. At the top of the venue sits the Champions Ballroom, a 50,000-square-foot, column-free space. Because of its significant height, the entire millwork ceiling had to be installed using lifts.
The grand scale of the architectural woodwork, along with unique materials like embossed leather, blackened steel, copper, and fumed wood, results in a space that is both innovative and visually stunning.

The project features rich and inviting spaces that are both functional and flexible and the exceptional millwork results in a sophisticated and innovative interior.

The First Canadian Centre design team was tasked with revitalizing a 40-story office tower from the 1980s.
At the center of this transformation is the existing atrium—an imposing space that’s been reimagined to feel fresh and dynamic. The distinctive millwork feature that defines the space was designed to maximize the natural daylight while making the vast interior feel warm and inviting for tenants.
This millwork showcases durable materials used in bold, innovative ways—brought to life through complex geometry and precise craftsmanship.
