Edison Floor 5 Show Suites
Millwork Manufactured by: Perfection Millwork // Project Managed by: Persimmon Contracting
The objective of this project was the design of three distinct show suites for leasing purposes. Central to the concept was the emphasis on creativity and the innovative use of non-traditional materials.
In one of the show suites, the design approach revolved around the contrast of dark finishes with light elements. Plywood was stained black and skillfully sanded to enhance the wood grain texture. Leveraging up-lit polycarbonate, a glow is cast on the matte black millwork surfaces, creating a soft play of light and reflection.
Within another show suite, oriented strand board, complete with a high gloss white lacquer, is used to introduce texture and visual interest, all without compromising on budget considerations. This choice was paired with stainless steel, polished concrete, glass elements, translucent sheers, and gradient window film. The fusion of these materials, along with angled walls, creates a contemporary space that remains inherently welcoming.
The final show suite combines two distinct wood stains and veneer cuts, creating a unique and interesting aesthetic. For further interest, wood stick framing, backlit corrugated metal backsplashes, and concrete components have been integrated.
The resulting spaces are contemporary and inviting environments that showcase unique ways to use conventional and inexpensive materials in new and really exciting ways!

Buffalo Grace Manor

Buffalo Grace Manor is a new 100-bedroom supportive living community in Lethbridge, Alberta. The interior finishes were themed around using wood as a central accent to many of the spaces and bedroom units. The interior’s Nordic inspired style balances and warms the stark contrasts of the neutral whites and greys of the institutional interior.
All millwork areas feature solid surface countertops with eased edges. The casework is comprised of particle board core with a high-pressure laminate finish and matching pvc-edging to endure the regular cleaning practices all while contributing to the aesthetic of a homelike environment in the spaces frequented by residents.
The common area millwork was designed with large curves which helps soften the space with the organic, clean lines. The strategic use of wood-slats helps define spaces and create a visual warmth within the interior design. The resident suite-entry doors are wood-veneer solid core wood with a paint finish in varying colours to aid in wayfinding.
This project features bright and inviting spaces that are both functional and flexible and the millwork execution combined with the multicolor finishes results in a fresh and innovative interior.
